Contract: 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Salary: Circa €25,000–€30,000, depending on skills, knowledge and experience
The Opportunity
Offaly Innovation & Design Centre CLG is seeking a proactive and motivated Digital Engagement Specialist to drive ICT, digital engagement and harness synergies across Offaly’s key economic sectors of ICT, Green Energy, Construction & Engineering, Food & Drink, Creative Arts and Eco Tourism.
Reporting to the Economic Development Officer in Offaly County Council, you will work with businesses, schools, industry, education and enterprise partners to promote the benefits of emerging technologies and help develop the skills needed for the region’s future workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with businesses and LEO clients to promote robotics, digitalisation and emerging technologies.
- Support the Midlands Engenuity Engineering Network and ICT/Digital Transformation initiatives.
- Help coordinate and deliver the DreamBig Advanced Manufacturing Programme.
- Deliver STEM and VEX Robotics programmes in schools throughout Offaly.
- Coordinate Hydrogen Car projects, promoting renewable energy, engineering and sustainability.
- Support the Pilot Engineers Across the Border Project and provide stakeholder insights for the Midlands Regional Enterprise Plan.
- Build relationships with industry, education, enterprise and community stakeholders.
- Support STEM events, competitions and innovation challenges across the county.
- Gather feedback, maintain records and contribute reports and stakeholder insights.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have:
- Intermediate coding skills and experience with snap-together construction systems and educational robotics platforms.
- An ability and enthusiasm to learn and apply new and emerging technologies.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, particularly when working with children and young people.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Creativity, initiative and a practical, problem-solving approach.
- An interest in engineering, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, sustainability and technology.
- Good report writing, record keeping and analytical skills.
- Experience using digital tools, online learning platforms and technology equipment.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to travel throughout Offaly.
Desirable: A STEM/Computer Science qualification, experience delivering STEM programmes or events, community/industry liaison experience and familiarity with social media.
Driving Licence
A full Class B driving licence free from endorsement/disqualification is required. The successful candidate must provide and maintain a suitable car for work-related travel.
